Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Recent publicity has highlighted that more now than ever before non-surgical cosmetic treatments like Anti-Wrinkle Injections, should be done in a medical setting by a doctor to ensure the best results.

At AF Cosmetic Clinic we spend a significant amount of time before any treatment is undertaken to assess a patient’s skin health, what they want to achieve and more importantly discussing what results are realistic and other treatment options. This understanding of the patient’s requirements together with our doctors’ appreciation of facial aesthetics that allow AF Cosmetic Clinic to maintain a loyal and growing number of patients that all get the best service possible.

Our doctors’ success is based on a fine knowledge of facial anatomy to assess your skin and the underlying muscular structure to see which treatment is the most suitable.

We specialise in tailoring the strength of your treatments to your individual needs. This means if wanted, you can retain some expression of the facial muscles, giving a more natural and subtle look.

The treatment itself takes around 15 minutes to complete and after the treatment, you can drive or head back to work immediately, no recovery period is needed. It is an extremely safe procedure.
We offer a free follow up with a doctor two weeks after every treatment to ensure that the treatment meets your expectations; If necessary, a free top-up can be given at this appointment.

How do Anti-Wrinkle Injections work?

Anti-wrinkle injections have become famous in recent years as the celebrity solution to lines and wrinkles. It works by reducing nerve signals and relaxing the facial muscles that cause lines, wrinkles and your skin to crease, the treatment aims to smooth out the furrows on your face, chin and neck. They can also be used to treat certain medical conditions like hyperhidrosis (excessive perspiration sweating), migraines and headaches.

Anti-Wrinkle injections work by reducing nerve signals and relaxing the small facial muscles responsible for creating lines and wrinkles. These may give the angry, tired and displeased look of the face. As a result, it is the UK’s most popular wrinkle softening treatment.
The AF Cosmetic Clinic is also one of the few expert clinics who offer this treatment to the lower face.

The following are commonly treated areas:

The Chin (Mentalis)

The chin can be treated to give a less bulky and dimpled appearance which tends to occur as we age.

Frown Lines

Frown lines can be seen as vertical lines in between the eyebrows and are common in people who frown a lot or have been overexposed to the sun. Small injections are licensed to treat these lines, in between and along the brow.

Forehead Wrinkles

Forehead wrinkles appear as horizontal lines on the forehead which are more prominent when you raise your eyebrows. To treat these, small injections are given on the forehead.

Crow’s Feet

Crow’s feet are found in the outer corner of the eyes. They appear more prominent when smiling or laughing. They occur as the skin becomes less elastic with age, combined with excessive sun exposure. Small injections at either side of the eyes are licensed to treat crow’s feet wrinkles.

Smoker’s Lines

Smoker’s lines appear around the mouth above the top lip. They can occur in non-smokers but can appear more prominent in smokers. Injections placed around above the top lip are all that is needed to reduce their appearance.

Marionette Lines

Anti-wrinkle injections can be injected into the corners of the mouth alleviating the sad appearance that can occur with ageing.

Bunny Lines

Bunny lines are wrinkles at the top of the nose which can appear when squinting or frowning and can be successfully treated with injections.

Brow Lift

We can also achieve an eyebrow raise or “Chemical Brow Lift”. Carefully placed injections around the brow can raise the eyebrows. This can open up the eyes and in women give a more youthful appearance.

Hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating. Sweating is one of the most important ways in which the body loses heat; however, people with hyperhidrosis produce sweat in amounts far greater than needed to control their temperature.

The Nefertiti Neck Lift

The Nefertiti neck lift is a new technique whereby placing multiple injections into the platysmal muscle along the lower jawline as well as down the side of the neck it is possible to improve the definition of the jawline, rebalance the underlying muscles and provide ‘lifting’ in the neck and jaw area.

A well-defined jawline with a long neck has been a sign of beauty since the time of the Egyptians. This new procedure which creates a well-toned, smooth neck and lifted jawline was named after Queen Nefertiti, whose bone structure continues to be admired in modern times.

The vast majority of patients experience no side-effects whatsoever. Occasionally, a small bruise at the injection site may occur which will disappear after a few days and mild headaches lasting a few hours have been reported in a very few instances. In rare cases, a reversible condition known as undesired muscle weakness may occur. Proper regard to dosages and location of injection in susceptible muscle patterns should avoid this condition.
