Skin Micro Needling

The Dermaroller is an innovative, newly designed, handheld multipurpose device containing tiny micro-needles which stimulate natural skin cell regeneration. These tools, used correctly, can provide excellent results (which are much less invasive compared to a standard needle injection) with minimal downtime compared to other cosmetic procedures. Dermarollers are used for the treatment of various skin conditions such as acne scarring, fine lines, enlarged pores, hyperpigmentation or just improving skin radiance. One of the few new skin procedures, dermarollers are suitable for treating all skin types as well as the thin skin around the eyes, mouth and on the neck.

How Does Dermaroller work?

The concept of Skin Micro-Needling is based on the skin’s natural ability to repair itself whenever it encounters physical damage like abrasions.
The dermaroller, when rolled across the skin, makes tiny minuscule injuries. The skin responds by forming new collagen and elastin fibres which naturally plump and thicken to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, stretch marks and acne scars. The result is smoother, firmer and younger-looking skin and can last for up to one year. We sometimes recommend a course of 3 treatments at 6 weekly intervals.

What conditions can be treated by Dermaroller?

  • Reduce the appearance of scars.
  • Smooth away lines, wrinkles, folds and crow’s feet.
  • Restore tightness and firmness to saggy flaccid skin.
  • Lightens pigmentation marks.
  • Reduce the appearance of stretch-marks.
  • Improve the overall texture of the skin for the neck, face and décolleté.

Your Demaroller Treatment:

A topical numbing cream is applied prior to the procedure to provide a more comfortable experience. This is especially evident during deeper treatments (above 1.0mm depth). The whole procedure is normally completed within 30 minutes. However, this may take longer depending on the number of areas (s) treated. We use sterile single-use dermaroller for all our dermaroller treatments as patient safety is our priority.

After your Dermaroller Treatment:

Immediately after the treatment, your skin will be red and flushed in appearance. This will subside within 24 hours and within the next 48 hours, your skin will be completely healed. After 2 days there is minimal evidence that the treatment has taken place.
The downtime and recovery time depends on the micro-needle size used for the procedure. You will be kept fully informed during the consultation.
Special cream will be applied (at no extra cost) which will lead to a significant acceleration of the regenerative process and consolidation of treatment results. Avoid wearing makeup for 12-24 hours and use tepid water to cleanse the face for the following 48 hours and dry gently. Apply Chiroxy cream to help soothe and calm the skin, continue to use until the redness has disappeared.

Dermaroller Side Effects:

Dermaroller is a CE marked device. It is considered a safe and effective medical aesthetic treatment and the risks are very low. Swelling and redness are common side effects, this normally subsides within 24 hours. Infection and prolonged redness are rare. Mild bruising may occur and resolve quickly.
